The Primal Spark is the only unexplainable element in Calythera. It is confined exclusively to members of House Velythar and certain player characters. The primal spark grants unnaturally extended lifespans to those who possess it. It has no other documented mechanical advantages and cannot be replicated through hemotech, etched patterns, or any known scientific or engineering means.
The primal spark is tied to the destruction of the first aether font during the Pre-Mourning cataclysm in the Battle of Leeth. The true cause of that event remains unknown. Certain zealots, including elements of the Cult of the Starfall, actively seek ways to replicate the conditions of the first font's destruction in order to reproduce the spark's effects.
House Velythar is driven by the long-term goal of discovering the true cause behind Elara Velythar's death in the Battle of Leeth and the mystery of the primal spark. This objective shapes their movements, relic hunts, and interactions across generations.
In all other respects, Calythera operates according to mechanical and scientific principles. The primal spark stands as the single exception to this rule.
