Calythera Archives – Entry 33 – Myrra Corvayne

Myrra Corvayne is the younger sister of Aelira Corvayne and a member of House Corvayne in good standing with every coalition workshop, repair depot, and parts supplier between Brassveil Port and Ironshade Hold. She is the clan's primary hemotech specialist. She is also, by most accounts of people who have traveled with them, the reason the caravan occasionally stops for something other than necessity.

Appearance

Slender and practical, with lighter copper-red hair that moves with more energy than her sister's. Her most distinctive feature is her gloves — intricately engraved copper-and-brass work, inlaid with fine resonance threading, a gift from a craftsman in Ironshade Hold that have since been modified so many times the original design is visible only in the structural bones. They are functional hemotech tools as much as they are clothing.

She carries a small tinkering instrument that she spins between her fingers when her hands are not otherwise occupied. They are almost never otherwise occupied.

The family resemblance to Aelira is clear to anyone paying attention, which in their line of work is most people.

Where Aelira speaks in complete sentences and does not repeat herself, Myrra thinks out loud. She voices concerns quickly, changes direction mid-sentence when a better idea arrives, and has opinions about most things that she shares without being asked. People who have worked with both sisters for any length of time tend to describe the dynamic as effective — Aelira decides, Myrra identifies every reason the decision might go wrong, and the final outcome is better for having had both of them in the room.

She is more openly warm than her sister. This does not mean she is soft. People who make that assessment tend to revise it at some point during the second day.

She is deeply loyal once she has decided someone is worth it. That decision, once made, does not appear to be revisable by anything short of a significant breach.

Myrra's technical capabilities are, by the assessment of the Starwrought Enclave's external evaluators — who observed her work during a contract at Gildspire Nexus without her knowledge — at the upper range of what any non-Enclave specialist has demonstrated in active field conditions. She maintains the clan's hemotech in environments where it should not function. She identifies component failures before they manifest as operational problems. She has rebuilt equipment in the deep Wastes from parts that other specialists would not have recognized as salvageable.

She carries the Primal Spark in the same way all of House Corvayne does — quietly, without explanation, and with no apparent interest in submitting to the formal study that several research institutions have requested over the years.

In Recent Seasons

Myrra was present with her sister at Brassveil Port during the failed Turning. The Dock Authority manifest lists her under the same escort contract as Aelira. She was observed in the Warrens district the following morning, which is consistent with someone sourcing replacement components after a long journey — or consistent with several other things. The manifest does not speculate.
