The Primal Spark is the only known element in Calythera that cannot be explained through mechanical or aether-based principles. It exists exclusively within members of House Corvayne and allows them to operate and repair hemotech devices even in severely depleted aether zones where standard resonance fails. This rare ability makes the clan indispensable for expeditions into the Wastes and gives them a unique position outside the normal systems of the coalitions. The Primal Spark is the reason House Corvayne can operate where others cannot. It gives them a critical role as guides, escorts, and relic hunters in the Wastes. At the same time, it makes them both valuable allies and potential targets. The existence of this unexplainable element continues to challenge the strictly mechanical worldview that dominates Calythera and fuels many of the deeper mysteries surrounding the Mourning and the first font.
