The Turning is the week-long festival that accompanies each Minor Reset. It runs for seven days, culminating on the Eve of the Turn — the seventh night — when the continental stamping engine network fires in synchronized sequence and accumulated debts registered in the public ledger system are cleared. The festival is observed across all four coalition territories, with variations in form that reflect local custom while the underlying mechanism remains uniform.
It is the most widely observed event in Aeloria's civic calendar. It is also, in practical terms, a deadline — seven days during which outstanding obligations, unresolved negotiations, and deferred decisions must be addressed or abandoned to the reset.
The Seven Days
The first days of the Turning are commercially active in ways that distinguish them from ordinary trade periods. Merchants offer terms they would not extend mid-cycle. Guild feasts mark the opening of the festival in most city-states — a tradition that functions partly as celebration and partly as a final structured opportunity for inter-guild negotiation before the reset. Public markets run longer hours. The pace of transactions across every commercial district in Aeloria increases measurably.
In Brassveil Port the docks operate at elevated capacity through the full seven days — final cargo movements, last debt settlements, and the particular category of arrangement that parties prefer to complete before the ledger clears. In Gildspire Nexus the festival's opening days coincide with the Enclave's prototype demonstration season — patent claims that have not been formally registered before the reset expire, which concentrates a significant volume of technical activity into the Turning week.
